My Valencia: City of the Arts and the Sciences – TRYP Valencia Oceanic

My name is Yolanda and I am the gastronomy and family expert at the TRYP Oceanic. This tour is one of my favourites, the one I would do if it were my first visit to Valencia.

TOUR OF THE CITY OF THE ARTS AND THE SCIENCES

A grand leisure and cultural complex promoted by the Generalitat of Valencia which has become an international landmark, both for its architecture (designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela), as well as for its ability to entertain, teach and excite through the performances at the Reina Sofía Arts Palace (opera house), the Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema and digital projections), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum, the Umbracle (landscaped vantage point and parking), the Agora and the Oceanogràfic (aquarium).

Oceanogràfic

  • Natural and magical surroundings which we can enjoy with the family as we discover the hundreds of different and amazing sea and ocean species. Some unique in Spain such as the beluga whales
  • Visit takes around four hours
  • If you are feeling the heat, we recommend visiting Antartica to cool off a little

Príncipe Felipe Science Museum

  • An interactive space where visitors can participate and enjoy science
  • Visitors are encouraged to handle and take part in its different exhibitions, workshops and activities
  • Visit takes around and hour and a half

Hemisfèric

  • This unique and spectacular building represents a human eye, the eye of knowledge. Inside an ovid roof measuring 100 metres long contains a large sphere that constitutes the largest projection room in Spain, with three systems projecting: Large format cinema (IMAX Dome), digital 3D screen, digital projections (astronomical representations and entertainment shows)
  • Visit takes around an hour

Umbracle

  • Landscaped vantage point and parking. At night there is a discoteque. Its Spanish tradition “sombrio” gives us an idea of what it represents

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía

  • Opera house

Ágora

  • Versatile multifunctional space designed for holding different types of events (Open 500 Tennis Tournament, the Global Equestrian Champions Tour, Valencia Fashion week )
