  • The Teno Massif is one of the three rocky formations that gave rise to Tenerife (Canary Islands). Located in the north-western part of the island between the municipalities of Santiago del Teide, Los Silos, El Tanque and Buenavista del Norte.
  • The volcanic relief, which emerged 5 to 7 million years ago, is covered by deep ravines and ends abruptly into the sea, in an area known as Acantilado de los Gigantes (the Cliffs of the Giants) with a series of steep cliffs that plummet into the sea from a height of 500 metres.
  • The Punta de Teno is the extreme western tip of Tenerife. It is an area of important marine life as well as one of the best areas in the archipelago for diving. The European Union declared the Teno Massif as a special area for the protection and preservation of birds.
