Oviedo is home to the most representative Asturian pre-Romanesque art which was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Including:

  • Cámara Santa de Oviedo. Chapel located within the architectural complex of the cathedral
  • San Julián de los Prados. Church dating back to the early 9th century, built by Alfonso II
  • Santa María del Naranco. 9th century palace built by King Ramiro I on Monte Naranco overlooking the city. Later converted into a church in the 12th century
  • San Miguel de Lillo. Church dating back to the late 9th century, built next to the former palace with which it forms an architectural complex
  • Foncalada. Monumental building that houses a fountain, dating back to the time of Alfonso III el Magno in the 9th century. It is the only civil work of pre- Romanesque art that remains intact
