La Herradura, which is wedged between Punta de la Mona to the east and Peñón de Cerro Gordo to the west and protected by the easterly and westerly winds, has idyllic scenery, spectacular sunsets and a pleasant all year climate with 320 days of sunshine a year.
Its beautiful beach is 2 km long with calm, crystal clear water and coarse sand, ideal for fishing and water sports.
Located in the heart of small fishing town and only 120 metres from the shore is La Herradura castle.
La Herradura has become a popular destination for divers due to its quiet waters and subtropical climate which allows you to dive any time of the year. The area is famous for its incredible marine life with abundant flora, fauna, corals and species in danger of extinction.
At La Herradura there is also the Marina del Este or the port of Punta de la Mona, a medium sized marina with 227 berths and capacity for boats up to 30 metres in length and between 3 and 6.5 metres wide.
La Herradura offers wide range of dining options at its numerous restaurants and chiringuitos on the beach specializing in fried fish, roasts and paellas.
