  • The circular building measures exactly the same in diameter as in height: 43.30 metros. In the centre of the dome is a large opening (8.92 metros in diameter), which was the only source of light

  • At the top of the castle, you can visit the different Papal apartments and see many frescoes from the Renaissance period and an extensive collection of arms

  • The catacombs are a series of underground galleries that were used as burial grounds from the second to the fifth centuries
  • Christians didn’t approve of the custom of cremating bodies and decided to create these cemeteries below ground.
