São Paulo is one of the most visited cities in Brazil by tourists from around the world. This is due to the great variety of things that can be found in the state capital. Every year more than 11 million people visit the city in search for culture, shopping, entertainment and business.

Business is the main activity of São Paulo. The Avenida Paulista, location of the Meliá Paulista, is one of the largest urban business centres in the world. The area has several exhibition halls, Brazilian and international company offices, commercial buildings, business centres and it holds many different events.

In this city, entertainment is also guaranteed. There are approximately 280 cinemas, 180 clubs, 180 theatres, 90 cultural centres, 146 libraries, 51 malls and 95 parks and gardens. Eating is another passion of the tourists. There are over 15 thousand restaurants representing the cuisine from more than 52 different countries.

The best congresses, conferences and trade fairs are celebrated in São Paulo. The state capital is known as the city that never sleeps, as some event is going on at all times. The headquarters of many important internationally recognised companies are located here, making it the ideal destination for guests looking for the essence of business.

The different exhibition halls confirm the trend of São Paulo to host large events. There are attractions and opportunities for different industrial sectors, such as the São Paulo Fashion Week, the Bienal of Arte of São Paulo, the Car Show, the Parada do Orgulho LGBT, the International Festival of Linguagem Eletrônica, the Couromoda fair, the São Paulo International Film Festival, the Brazil Formula 1 GP at Interlagos, and Carnival, with parades by the samba schools.

Among the major museums in the city is the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), only a 7 minute walk from the Meliá Paulista; the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), a 15 minute drive from the hotel; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), a 12 minute drive from the hotel; the Football Museum, a 7 minute drive away; the Museum of the Portuguese Language, 30 minutes away by metro, and the Pinacoteca do Estado, a 11 minute drive away, with over a hundred thousand exhibits.

Although only 2.7 km long, the Avenida Paulista is one of the most important tourist attractions in São Paulo and even Brazil. Besides being a business centre and close to several other avenues, it has many bars and clubs which have made the area very popular, such as the Bar Metrópolis, famous for its rock and roll and Bar Riviera, a well-established bar in Avenida Paulista. Furthermore, you can easily access the famous Rua Augusta from here, where there are many more clubs and bars.
