The Meliá Recoleta Plaza in Calle Posadas was the home of Evita Duarte de Perón between 1942 and 1944. The building has witnessed stories of love and betrayal which today forms part of our walls.
The building was built in the 1930 as the “Golden Home Residence”. The area was surrounded by many bars, cabarets, nightclubs and gambling dens that were frequented by the wealthiest people in society.
The property consisted of two buildings, which were private residences divided by a central patio. Today this is our luxurious lobby decorated by a work by famous Italian sculptor Julio Geró.
The connection of the building to Evita ended when General Perón was arrested and taken to Isla Martín García. Months later he was released and married in the city of Junín.
The refurbishment of the building took care of all its details so that guests can get a sense of the age of this historic and iconic building and relive the historic events that have shaped Argentina.
